Our mission is to equip classical musicians to worship in alignment with the Holy Spirit.

Worship Violin was founded by Matt Lagus in 2024 as a way of helping classical musicians make the transition to playing their instruments in a worship band setting. When Matt first started playing violin in worship bands, he had no idea how to approach it. Playing contemporary worship music is SO different from playing classical music, and it took him several years of experimenting to begin feeling comfortable. He wanted to help other musicians learn how to be successful in a worship setting much faster—and so the idea was born.

Over time, though, the mission of Worship Violin has evolved to focus both on technical skills AND worship posture. We've seen that while the technical skills are necessary, the true joy in worship comes from being able to connect with and worship God with authenticity and freedom.

Consequently, that has become our focus: teaching classical musicians the skills they need to truly connect with the Holy Spirit in worship.

To do so, we teach musicians the basics of improvisation and encourage them to not be reliant on any sheet music. This enables them to be fully present listening to how God is moving and responding accordingly.
