Or, at least it can be—especially for those of us who were classically trained. Many churches don't use sheet music, they don't have a conductor, instruments are amplified—in some ways it feels like the opposite of playing in an orchestra! Consequently, so many classical musicians don't even attempt to play their instrument in a worship band setting.

When played well, violin and other classical instruments add SO much to a worship band. And for classical musicians, playing in worship is an incredibly rewarding way to connect with God. So when classical musicians refrain from playing in worship settings, they not only deprive themselves of meaningful connection with God, but the church as a whole loses.
